About Plant Glider

Thanks to our founder’s neighbour, the rest is history!

Inspired by his neighbour struggling to move heavy pot plants, our founder, Peter McKinnon, set out to create a better solution. Unhappy with the plant trolleys commonly found in hardware stores, he replaced traditional caster wheels with omni wheels to improve both load capacity and directional stability, bringing the Plant Glider to life.
 

Following a rigorous design and development period, the concept was refined into a practical, user-friendly solution and officially launched in November 2020.
 

Standing apart in the plant mover category, the Omnia Plant Glider has earned strong praise from the design community, not only for its sleek appearance but also for the safety and ease it brings to moving and rotating heavy potted plants.

The perfect solution

Previously tried another cheap option to see if I actually would move my plants when it rained, which I did, but they were hard to move and my wife struggled then a roller broke on the 2nd use.
We upgraded to the Omnia glider and never looked back, even my kids can move the plants around now, they move so easily and very sturdy. We Love them!

Best thing for Verandah plants I have ever invested in. Just make sure you put the pot on the Omni glider before you fill it up and I recommend a saucer under the pot. So easy to move them around .

I have 10 gliders now, two black ones I gifted to my yoga teacher for the plants in her studio which are indoor palms in heavy pots.
All of my omnia gliders are out doors on pavers but move very easily and give me the opportunity to change the position of the pots on them easily or just turn them with the sun.

Too small for large heavy wide pots

Bought 2 90KG Omnia gliders to put under my potted lemon and lime trees. Fast delivery and they move very easily across concrete. However the 30cm diameter is too small for large wide heavy pots which risk overbalancing whilst moving. For 90KG pots they need to be at least 40 - 50 cm.

What is the difference between a 50kg and 90kg Plant Glider?

50kg Plant Gliders feature three omni wheels and three simple roller wheels, designed to move pot plants weighing up to 50kg. Take a closer look at a 50kg model.

90kg Plant Gliders feature six omni wheels and are designed to move pot plants weighing up to 90kg. Take a closer look at a 90kg model.

The 90kg Plant Glider will also provide the smoothest move on uneven surfaces with cracks and gaps, on decks, and a scratch-free glide on indoor floors. 

The 30cm 50kg, and 90kg Plant Gliders are identical in their dimensions and colour options. The larger 40cm Plant Glider has the same colour options, but is bigger, with a 40cm diameter, for larger pots.

What’s the secret to the Plant Glider’s smooth movement under heavy pot plants?

The secret is in the patented omni wheel base.

Omni wheels offer 360° movement in a highly stable, smooth, and intuitive way.

Omni wheels don't need to turn like standard wheels or swivel like a caster wheel. Instead, they respond to force applied on any 360° vector through a set of heavy-duty rollers that sit parallel to the core base wheel. It's kind of like a series of extra wheels positioned parallel to the main wheel.

Omni wheels have a myriad of applications and are the preferred choice for robotics where human-like or intuitive movement capability is essential.

When omni wheels are applied to a Plant Glider, you have access to some of the most advanced wheel technology in the world, and your pot plants are in for the glide of their life!

How can I work out what my pot plant weighs?

To purchase a Plant Glider with confidence, it helps to have a pretty good idea of how much your pot plants weigh. This will determine whether you need the 50kg model or the 90kg.

To help, we've put together a visual guide with a variety of pots and plants. Simply identify the pot type/dimensions, soil amount and plant size that most closely match yours, to estimate roughly how much your pot plant might weigh.

Which Plant Glider is best for indoor use?

For indoors, we recommend the 90kg Plant Glider for a scratch-free glide. 

To be safe, we recommend you test the Plant Glider (loaded with a pot plant) in an inconspicuous area before rolling elsewhere.

Please take particular care when testing the product before use on softwood and plastic wood composites such as Modwood, which can be prone to marking.

What's the difference between the new and the old Gliders?

The next generation Plant Glider builds on everything customers loved about the original, with thoughtful improvements shaped by real feedback. The new range includes the original 30cm size plus a new, larger 40cm option, designed for bigger pots with a higher load capacity. Both sizes deliver the same smooth, effortless movement and stability you’ve come to rely on.

The new generation has also been redesigned to be lighter, more affordable, and more sustainable, using 25% less plastic while maintaining the same strength, durability, and beautifully simple design. In short, it’s the same trusted performance - refined, improved, and now available in more sizes to suit your space.

Will you be releasing square Gliders?

At this stage, we don’t have plans to release square Plant Gliders. Our round Plant Gliders work perfectly under square pots, and look great too. For larger rectangular planters, many customers find that using two Gliders provides excellent support and effortless movement. This flexible approach allows you to move different pot styles easily without the need for multiple Glider shapes.
